Create an ACH debit

Create an ad hoc (one time) ACH debit for a customer on their mandate.

If a customer has an eligible mandate, you can create a single ACH debitlink icon.

Eligible mandates are those that are active and not under cancellation process.

1. Go to the mandate page. You can find the mandate page directly, or via the customer.

2. Click on the Create ACH Debit button. Only eligible mandates will show this option.

3. Enter the input details including amount, reference and date selection.

4. If you select to “Take ACH Debit as soon as possible”, the ACH debit will be charged to the customer on the date shown in brackets. This is the first available date, and is the later of the nearest available banking day (today if before the cutoff time, else the next banking day) or the mandate's first collection date.

5. If you select to “Take ACH Debit on a specific date”, a box will open below showing the first available charge date. Click this box to open the calendar where you can select your preferred charge date. You can schedule ACH Debits up to one year in advance.

6. Click Create ACH Debit.

The ACH debit will be created and shown in pending status. The ACH Debit will be processed and charged on the scheduled charge date.

ACH Debits on subscription-linked mandates

Be careful when creating ACH debits on mandates that already have subscriptions linked to them. It's not appropriate to debit the customer's bank account for more than they agree to pay. It's ok to re-attempt collection of a returned ACH debit, but note that returned ACH debits usually cause the destination bank to impose a penalty fee upon the customer.
